It’s late at night. Maybe you just got home from the bar or had a long day at work and need some stress relief. Either way, you can’t resist the urge much longer; you just have to have it.

So you pick up your phone ... and log onto DSW or LuLu*s or whatever your preferred shoe-shopping website.

Yes, shoe shopping. What else do normal people do at 2 a.m. when they’re tipsy or exhausted?

This season, when you’re scrolling through the endless options for fall footwear, be sure to include some ankle-grazers on your list of must-haves. Not only are they completely on point trendwise, they’re also a great way to show off this season’s printed denim and hosiery.

Ankle boots and booties are also a welcome respite from the misery of trying on mid-calf or knee-high boots that are either too tight on the calf or too loose. I’m not saying ditch the talls altogether, but incorporate more of the little guys into your fall wardrobe.

Stiletto booties are great for work (if you’re lucky enough to be chained to a desk all day) or happy hour because they bring a sophisticated edge and tend to provide more support than your average pump. Take it from someone who wears 6-inch heels on a regular basis and has the mangled-looking feet to prove it.
